32 Weeks

Week Thirty Two: Reproductive development continues

You are 32 weeks pregnant. (fetal age 30 weeks)

The baby is 17 inches (43cm) long and weighs 4 pounds (1.8 kilograms).

The diameter of the head is almost 4 inches (10cm).

Under the skin the fat layer is getting thicker.

The toenails and fingernails are completely formed.

In boys, the testicles will be descending from the groin down into his scrotum.

During this time the baby sleeps most of the day. The uterus is getting to be a small space for the baby to move about, so you may have noticed a decrease in your baby's movements. The baby is still trying to move frequently but it just does not have enough room. The baby will turn its head from side to side and move its hands.

As space in your uterus becomes more cramped, your baby's kicks and other movements may seem less forceful. You may want to check on your baby's movements from time to time and do a kick count.

If your baby is a boy, his testicles are moving from their location near the kidneys through the groin on their way into the scrotum. If your baby is a girl, her clitoris is now relatively prominent.

The baby will now weigh about 4 pounds (1.8 kg). Half of your weight gain now will go directly to baby. If you are carrying twins or more, their weight increase will be slower than singletons because of the lack of room in the uterus.

Are you waddling? This is because the ligaments in your pelvis have softened, allowing your hips to spread in preparation for birth. If you find that the increased weight of your breasts is uncomfortable when sleeping try wearing a soft but supportive bra to bed.

Hospital Tour

I am so thrilled to be delivering at the hospital we are! I am so much more comfortable with the delivery after having gone on the tour and know where everything is. The labor and delivery suites are awesome and have a tub in every one; they are very private. The baby monitors are all wireless and water proof! And they want the moms and new babies to have at least an hour of bonding time right after the birth; they do all the check ups and stuff right in the room! You stay there for about 3 hours after delivery and go to the post-partum floor. Those rooms are a little smaller it seemed and you might sometimes have to share but only if they are busy (supposedly Feb. and June are their busiest months). They have a sitz bath (yay!) in each shower...that will feel great after the delivery. They like babies to room-in with the moms when at all possible and not stay in the nursery...sounds fine to me! Seeing the little babies that were in the nursery though made it so real though. I was like, "We're going to have one like that in just a a couple months!" It made me very excited!

American Idol

I actually watched alot of this season and am so happy with who they chose! Kris Allen is an awesome witness for Christ. We need to be praying that God protects him and his wife while they are in the spotlight this year and that he will continue being an amazing witness for Christ!

31 weeks

31 weeks
Week Thirty One: Baby detects light
You are 31 weeks pregnant. (fetal age 29 weeks)
Baby weighs 3.5 pounds and measures 16.5 inches from the head to heel.
Baby's weight is about 1.6 kg and length around 42cm.
The eyes have now completely opened and are responding to light and darkness.
A loud noise near you may cause your little one to jump.Your baby continues to grow. Baby's lungs and digestive tract are very near to being mature. Now that almost all of the major organs are functioning, growth will focus on maturing those organs and growing muscle mass and fat stores. Baby's weight gain will exceed its growth in length from now on. He or she should more than double their weight again between now and birth. It weighs about 3.5 pounds (1.6kg), and crown to rump length is 11 inches (28cm). Its total length is 16.5 inches (42cm).A loud noise near you may cause your little one to jump. Baby may move to the rhythm of music. Studies with heart rates show that they may also prefer some types of music to others at this stage. The eyes can now completely open and the irises are now responsive to light, dilating and contracting as needed. You will probably find that though you have been feeling pretty energetic throughout your second trimester, you are beginning to slow down now. Pay attention to your body's signals and rest when you need to. Exercise is still an important activity for you, even though it gets harder as you get larger and heavier. Try swimming, stretching and walking all excellent options for pregnant women.Your total pregnancy weight gain by this time should be between 21 and 28 pounds (9.5 and 12.5kg).

Oh and if I haven't said it already...Kyle get's hiccups alot. He had them 3 times yesterday...he's just practicing his breathing so that's great! I love my little boy!
Tomorrow we go tour the birthing center at the hospital; I'm excited for that!

My motto for life

"To Be Early Is To Be On Time. To Be On Time Is To Be Late." - Mr. Tucker
Thank you mom for instilling this in me...now if only I could convince my husband...

Not Me Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.
It was not me who decided I needed more clothes line and found the only thing I could...an old brown extension cord to tie up and hang myunderwear on...
It was not me who went to Costco by myself and pushed a cart full of groceries with my baby belly sticking out and then asked the bagger to make sure to put my stuff in small boxes so I could lift them and then bought myself a HUGE ice cream as a reward...

30 Weeks! Yay!

Compare 28 weeks to 30 weeks...bigger and bigger

I don't know why but 30 weeks is super exciting to me...Here's what we can expect now... (stole this from a fellow blogger who turned 30 weeks yesterday!) Check out her blog and keep her and her little one in your prayers...

30 week milestone
Week Thirty: Baby puts on pounds
You are 30 weeks pregnant. (fetal age 28 weeks)
Baby measurements are 16 inches and weighs about 3 pounds.
Length is 40cm and your baby's weight is 1.4 kilograms.
The head is almost 3.5 inches (8cm) in diameter.
The feet are nearly 2.5 inches (6cm) long.
The wrinkled skin is becoming smoother now.
In boys, the testicles have moved down to the groin.
The baby controls its own body temperature. For several months, the umbilical cord has been the baby's lifeline to the mother. Nourishment is transferred from the mothers blood, through the placenta, and into the umbilical cord to the fetus. Their bone marrow is now responsible for red cell production. These red blood cells will continue to service your child's body by transporting oxygen and removing the wastes. Your baby begins storing iron, calcium and phosphorus.
The fetus now weighs about 3 pounds (1.4kg). He or she will gain about half a pound a week until week 38. Baby is getting fatter and beginning to control its own body temperature. Baby continues to put on fat stores and the major weight gains will occur in the coming weeks. Eyebrows and eyelashes are fully developed, and hair on the head is getting thicker. Head and body are now proportioned like a newborn. Hands are now fully formed and fingernails are growing, eyelids are opening and closing.
You may be starting to experience some swelling of your ankles and legs. If you have not experience swelling yet, it is highly probable that you will, as approximately 40 to 75 percent of women experience mild swelling related to pregnancy.
Your uterus is now about 4 inches (10cm) above your bellybutton. It may feel like you are running out of room as your uterus grows up under your ribs. However, your fetus, placenta and uterus will continue to get larger, you still have 10 weeks to go. The average weight gain during pregnancy is 25 to 35 pounds (11.5 to 16kg). About half of this weight is concentrated in the growth of the uterus, the placenta, the baby and in the volume of amniotic fluid. At this point, you should be gaining about a pound (500 grams) a week

A Letter to My Sweet Baby Boy on Mother's Day

Dear Sweet Baby,
Today is my first Mother's Day and I'm so excited. I know some people think you can't celebrate Mother's Day till you have an "outside" baby, but I think they're wrong. I am definitely already a mother and so happy to be your mommy.

God has been teaching me so many things just in the short time He's allowed me to have you and take care of you already. It's hard sometimes to not worry about if you're okay or what I would do if God decided it was time for you to be with Him before I get to meet you.

I sometimes think it will all be okay once you are born but I know that the worrying will continue even after that because I love you so much and don't want anything to happen to you. So that's when I have to give my fears over to God knowing that you first belong to Him and I'm just lucky to be able to care for you for a short while. Even if that means only a few months or many many years. I am thankful for every day we get together.

I know that God's plan for you is perfect and I can rest in knowing that He is in control and I don't need to worry about things that may or may not happen because whatever does happen God will give me the grace I need to get through.

So thank you for being my sweet baby boy and for all the wonderful times we've had together so far. I pray that God has many more years planned for us.

I love you forever,
Your Mommy

Kyle's Guessing Game

I think it's always fun to try and guess the baby's due date and size and all that so I set up a button to the right for you guys to do that! Can't wait to see what the guesses are!

Not Me! Monday

My Charming Kids does this fun thing called Not Me! Monday where people post confessions about things they can't believe they did the past week. So here goes for my first post...

It was certainly not me who came home to the trash can knocked over and trash strewn all over my clean carpet by my very bad furbaby Sam last week after working all day on my feet. Of course this was about the 50th time he'd done that...and it wasn't me who wanted to burst into tears but instead went promptly to Target and bought a $70 trash can with a locking lid. I know I couldn't have put that brick in the bottom of trash can to weight it down in hopes he wouldn't knock it over. I decided to put it through a trial run with just a few items in it (so it wouldn't be too big of a mess to clean up). When I got home it certainly WAS NOT my $70 trash can who's lid had popped open after being knocked over (with the brick and all) by my precious...wretched...horrible pooch Sam. I'm pretty sure it wasn't me who decided to bungee cord the trash can lid closed then proceed to do video camera (Sam Cam) surveillance of my dog while I was gone that afternoon to figure out how to outsmart my sweet...horrible...wretched Sam.
I'm still trying to find a solution to this problem...especially after he has now decided to skip the bungee corded trash can and nose his way right into the fridge and get the good stuff...
SAM GET IN YOUR CRATE!!! YOU'RE NOT COMING OUT TILL YOU'RE 18!!

A few pictures

Here's a few pictures from this week. Me at 28 weeks...doesn't really look much different. Also my DH holding a little baby bird he found had hit the window and was fine, just stunned for a bit (he had just rode home from work)
